Hassel “Kent” Rimmer, age 65, of Leasburg and Wilmington died July 28, 2022, of pancreatic cancer.
Kent was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Roxboro to the late Hassel G. and Odessa Mae (Tatum) Rimmer. He graduated from Person Senior High School in 1975.
Kent married the love of his life, Lisa Duncan, in April of 1983 and they had 39 wonderful years of marriage. Their union brought the greatest joys of his life, his daughter, Tatum (Dan) Bowman, and his grandchildren, Aria and Huxley Bowman.
Kent was a retired and dedicated charter member of the Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department and served for 26 years as a firefighter and board member. He enjoyed woodworking and crafted many beautiful custom pieces and cabinetry in his beloved shop. He and Lisa owned and operated Talley’s Store in Prospect Hill for 20 years. He also retired from McLeod Oil Company in 2021. Kent was a “people” person who never met a stranger. He was a friend to all.
Kent is also survived by many who loved him including his son, Chris (Alicia) Rimmer and their children; brother, Brent (Angela) Rimmer; sister-in-law, Susan (Pete) Tuck; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Duncan; nieces, Stephanie Rimmer Spencer and Myranda Tuck; nephews, Taylor Rimmer and Jeremy Tuck; and father-in-law, Richard Duncan Jr.
