George Beachum “Butch” O’Briant Jr.

George Beachum “Butch” O’Briant Jr. age 55, of Timberlake died Wednesday night, July 20, 2022.

Mr. O’Briant was born Aug. 6, 1966 in Person County, son of the late George Beachum O’Briant Sr. and Margaret Oakley O’Briant who survives and was husband of 19 years to Tracey O’Briant, who survives. He was employed by GKN as a Program Manager and was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church. 

Butch was a very active member of North Roxboro Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Butch was also the assistant coach of the Roxboro Community School High School volleyball team.   

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two children, James Beachum O’Briant and Alison Lynn O’Briant, all of Timberlake, sister, Kimberly O. Tingen and husband, David of Roxboro, brother, Chance N. O’Briant of Roxboro, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Gail Haigler of Durham and brother-in-law, Jamie Haigler and wife, Becky of Durham and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022 at North Roxboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Durand officiating. Interment followed in the Oakley Family Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were David Adkins, Jacob Haigler, Jamie Haigler, Greg Oakley, Chance O’Briant, Tristin O’Briant, Caleb Tingen and David Tingen. Honorary Pallbearers were Josh Bayliff, Jimmy Jeffreys, Jimmy Ray Long, Bruce Mabry, Reed Marston, Adam Oakley, Johnny Oakley, and Reggie Oakley. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Roxboro Baptist Church General Fund, 115 School Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
