HURDLE MILLS --- Charles Andrew Strader, Jr., 63, of 741 Charlie Long Rd., Hurdle Mills, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born in Durham County, Mr. Strader was the son of the late Charles Andrew and Annette Carter Strader. Mr. Strader retired from Durham County EMS as a Logistics Office/EMT-I with 36 years service. He loved the Lord and served Landmark Baptist Church as deacon with zeal. He coached community sports for a number of years with his sons and his grandson. He was passionate about investing his time in teaching young men baseball and basketball. He formed life long friendships with many of his players.

Mr. Strader is survived by his wife Sherry Barham Strader; two sons, Charles Andrew (Drew) Strader III and wife Anna and Wesley Aaron Strader; one sister, Sandra (Sandy) Strader Griggs and husband Rob; five grandchildren, Levi Strader, Emmie Strader, Greyson Strader, Ellie Strader and Lawson Strader.

The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and 1-2 p.m. Friday at Landmark Baptist Church prior to the service and at other times at the home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Landmark Baptist Church by the Rev. Craig Currin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Levi Strader, David Mangum, Donald Long, Jay Jennings, John Barnes, Durwood Creech, Brett Hurdle, and Brock Hurdle.
