Cecil “CR” Ray Lee


DURHAM – Mr. Cecil “CR” Ray Lee, 82, passed away on October 30, 2021 at Duke Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lee was born March 21,1939 to the late J. Bickett Lee and E. Clarice Lee.  Cecil served his country and community well.  After serving 3 years in the U.S. Army, he served as a Police Officer for a few years with the Durham Police Department prior to embarking on a career with Trailways through Carolina Coach Company for 35+ years before retiring in 2002.  He was a Master Mason in several Masonic lodges for 58+ years including serving as Master for Durham Lodge 352 and Eno Lodge 210 along with the Scottish Rite and the Amran Shrine temple. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Cecil is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Vann.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Walker Lee; one daughter, Teresa Wilkinson (Billy); one son, Charles Lee (Joanne); four grandchildren, April W. Yandle (Kevin), Laura Wilkinson, Meredith Lee and McKenzie Lee; his brother, Arch (Paulette); his sister, Wanda Wilkinson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Home.  The funeral service was held Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields.  Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery.
