Zack Azariah Briggs, 83, of 4417 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, died Saturday, March 9, 2019. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late John Briggs and Rachael Davis Briggs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Otis Briggs, Gene Briggs, Laborn Briggs and Margaret Carver.
He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the PGA where he recently celebrated his membership of 50 years. Zack was the head golf pro at Roxboro Country Club for many years. Mr. Briggs was a member of Longhurst United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mae Holt Briggs of the home; son, Gary Briggs and wife, Donna of Suffolk, Va.; brother, Wade Briggs and wife, Paula of The Villages, Fla.; two sisters: Anna B. Crabtree of Burlington and Faye B. Narron (Marvin) of Roxboro
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Amanda Dixson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Briggs, Jason Narron, Sammy Lowery, Edwin Long, Craig Day and Larry Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Huff, Reginald Strange and Mark Narron.
