CREEDMOOR — Willie Lloyd Gresham, 75, of Creedmoor, died on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021. Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late Lee Jackson Gresham and Ruby Watts Gresham. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Gresham; father-in-law, Connie Vaughan; nephew, Jim Gresham.
Mr. Gresham was an active member of Red Mountain Baptist Church for over 50 years. Throughout the years, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir and music director and served on various committees within the church. Mr. Gresham served in the North Carolina National Guard for 23 years and later retired from the Federal Government with a total of 34 years of service. He was a jack of all trades and never met a stranger. Mr. Gresham enjoyed the mountains and loved being outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Doris Gresham of the home; two children: Weldon Gresham and wife, Kristy of Rougemont and Shelia Sanders of Timberlake; two sisters: Dora Pulley and husband, Dan of Raleigh and Mary Hayes and husband, Mike of Youngsville; his grandson, the apple of his eye, Colby Sanders of Timberlake; mother-in-law, Flora Watts of Rougemont; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 at the Red Mountain Baptist Church.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021 at the Red Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. David Pryor, the Rev. Cameron Lewis and the Rev. Joe Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
