William Henry Dickerson, 80, of 2821 Lucy Garrett Road, Roxboro, died Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2020 at Person Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dickerson was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Person County, son of the late Walter Grey Dickerson and Ombrice Harris Dickerson and was husband of 61 years to Barbara Jean Powell Dickerson who survives. Prior to retirement from Wade Grocery Co. he worked at Collins & Aikman Corp., Loxcreen, and CB Drug Co. He enjoyed watching Nascar, having a good Margarita, animals, holding and talking to babies and working on lawn mowers. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Jeffrey Dickerson and wife, Renee of Roxboro and Jeanne D. Tate and husband, Campbell of Efland; two grandchildren, Chris Dickerson and wife, Tara, Lindsay Foushee and husband, Matthew; three great grandchildren, Conner Dickerson, Collin Dickerson and Madison Milam; brother, Talmadge Dickerson; four sisters, Joyce Carver, Ruby Whitfield, Ruth Burch and Christine Kepley; two step-brothers, Ted Dickerson and Tim Dickerson; best friend, Jesse Duncan and wife, Brenda, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dickerson is preceded in death by four brothers, Roland Dickerson, Gerald Ray Dickerson, Gilbert Dickerson and Sam Dickerson; and four sisters, Dorothy Wrenn, Betty Wilkins, Gertie Holt and Evelyn Shotwell.
