Wallet stolen and a window broken during larceny


Monday morning a Person County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a reported larceny at 5411 Dirgie Mine Road.

According to the victim, he was awakened by a noise that sounded like glass breaking Sunday night.

The victim discovered that the window above his dining room table had been broken out and his wallet was missing from the table.

The brown wallet contained $300 in cash, a $200 check, license, an insurance card and a credit card.

This case remains under investigation.

Timberlake man issued citation at checkpoint

According to the Person County Sheriff’s Office, Wednesday afternoon a deputy noticed an odor of marijuana coming from a car while observing a Timberlake man’s license during a checkpoint at the intersection of Surl-Mount Tirzah and Antioch Church Road.

Evan Hicks, 26, of 641 Surl-Mount Tirzah Road, Timberlake, assured the deputy he did not have marijuana, giving verbal consent to the deputy to conduct a search.

The report stated the deputy located a glass jar with marijuana under the spare tire compartment.

Hicks was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Medication and money stolen

A victim reported his medication and money stolen to the Person County Sheriff’s Office Monday night.

According to the report, 25 of the victim’s 30mg oxycodone pills and $80 in cash were stolen from his pants while he was asleep at his home on Hassell Horton Road in Hurdle Mills.

This case is ongoing.

AC unit damaged during break-in

Tuesday evening a Person County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a break-in on Mollie Mooney Road.

The victim reported that someone went down in her basement and damaged her AC unit.

According to the report, the person who damaged the unit took the door off and put it back on as if nothing had happened to it.

Investigators are still looking into the case.
