A multi-agency DWI checkpoint in northern Person County on Friday night didn’t result in any drunk-driving charges, but officers from a host of local agencies reported citations for a number of other charges.
The checkpoint began late Friday night an extended into early Saturday morning. North Carolina officers set up on Boston Road. Virginia State Police operated their own checkpoint just across the state line.
Among the charges leveled by North Carolina officers, there were single counts of operating a vehicle without a license, driving with a revoked license, expired registration and fictitious registration.
Virginia officers issued three citations for equipment violations, two incidents of operating a vehicle without a license and a single charge of child-safety seat violations.
Person County Sheriff’s Department hosted the checkpoint. They were assisted by Roxboro police, N.C. Highway Patrol. Person County Rescue and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
The North Carolina Governor’sHighway Safety program provided a mobile breath-testing RV for the event.
