  • The Healthy Personians Chronic Disease Action Team, will host a free colon cancer awareness program from 5:30 - 7 p.m. March 21 called “Hope with the Scope.” The event will be at Piedmont Community College in Room S100. Guests will hear from local surgeons and gastroenterologists and have an opportunity to ask them questions. Colon healthy food will be served, courtesy of Person Memorial Hospital. RSVP to Leigh Ann Creson at the Person County Health Department by March 15.
  • The Prospect Hill Fire Department, will host a fundraiser to benefit Samantha Newcomer, a third-grader currently battling cancer. The barbecue chicken dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m. March 16. Unlimited Grace, a gospel quartet, will sing at the event. Tickets are $10. Eat-in or take out. There will be raffle tickets available and t-shirts, which will be pre-ordered.   • Caregiver Connection support group, will meet at 6:30 p.m., March 19, at Cambridge Hills, 5660 Durham Road, Roxboro. All caregivers are encouraged to attend.
  • The Humane Society of Granville County, is hosting a weekend of events to raise funds for spay and neuter programs March 23-24. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased online at Eventbrite or through the Granville County Animal Shelter. Events include a dinner and silent auction at Vino Oasi in Stem. On Sunday, Vino Oasi will host shopping event with more than 20 vendors offering items for sale.   • Retired employees of CP&L, Progress Energy and Duke Energy will gather for a luncheon at 11 a.m., April 9 at Golden Corral, 40 Weeks Drive, Roxboro. For additional information contact Danny Lamberth at 434-222-5629.
  • Cambridge Hills will host, a public safety workshop from 2 - 4 p.m., March 21. Roxboro police officers will lead a seminar on how seniors can protect themselves when they are out alone.   • The Narrated Tour of Burchwood Cemetery, sponsored by the Person County Museum of History and originally scheduled for March 14, has been postponed until 5:30 p.m., March 21 because of recent inclement weather. Cost of the tour is $5 for museum members and $10 for non-members.

  • AA Champions Group, meets at New Brook United Methodist Church, 267 Old Durham Road, at noon Tuesdays and Fridays; at 8 p.m. Wednesday; and at 1 p.m. Saturdays.
  • Person County Al-Anon, meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Long Memorial United Methodist Church in Roxboro.
  • Dual Recovery Anonymous, meets at 3:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Christian Help Center.

  • AA Back Room Group, meets at 6 p.m. on Sundays at the Hurdle Mills Fire Department.
