One of Person High School’s biggest clubs is Student Council and it’s a very active club here at Person. Student Council’s latest event planned is Homecoming, that will take place next week. The week of Homecoming, Person High students participate in different activities each day.
Prentice Hargrove is the teacher adviser for this club, and he says that they’ve been working on “homecoming activities like the parade, spirit week and the pep rally.”
Hargrove goes on to talk about the positive goals he has planned for Student Council this year.
“I would love to see more student activities occur at the school this year, like dodgeball tournaments, and any other event that students would enjoy,” Hargrove said.
Hargrove has already planned for his Student Council members to participate in Person High School’s first-ever Trunkor Treat event to be held Oct. 29 from 5-7 p.m., in the T-Wing parking lot.
Student Council members’ activities don’t just happen in the hallways of Person High School. They also go out into the community and participate in service projects, like roadside clean up, and events, such as Relay of Life.
President Jayce Mclver, is Student Council’s president. As President, he is responsible for many things like bringing new ideas in, mentoring students, and promoting school spirit.
“I would like to increase school spirit, help increase student behavior and build a personal friendship with each and every student this year,” McIver said.
As always, Person High School’s Student Council has been an advocate of the student body, and this year looks to be keeping to the same philosophy.
