Bertis Burton Smith and John Henry Smith of Roxboro renewed their wedding vows in a double-ring ceremony held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Antioch Baptist Church in Timberlake.
Mrs. Smith is the daughter of the late William T. and Mary C. Burton of Timberlake. Mr. Smith is the son of the late Jim and Josephine Smith of Roxboro.
The bride wore a white gown with a silhouette A-line sweetheart neckline with a natural waist and illusion mesh sleeves, striking a lovely balance between covered and bare, particularly when paired with the flattering wide-set V-neck and low back. The ensemble, from David’s Bridal, was completed with an A-line tulle skirt which added a softly voluminous finish.
The bride carried a bouquet of ivory roses.
She was given away by her brother, William Burton Jr. Tyree Smith provided music for the ceremony and Bishop Osmond V. Smith was the officiant.
The couple’s daughter, Artrice S. Fields, served as the couple’s Matron of Honor. The couple’s granddaughter, Akyah Fields, was the Maid of Honor.
The groom chose his grandson, Ian Fields, to be his best man.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony.
The couple has been married since February 19, 1977.
