The Roxboro Community School softball team returned after nearly three-weeks off with a big way by blasting Oxford Prep 21-3 Monday at the Granville Athletic Park.
The Bulldogs improved to 12-1 overall and comfortably stayed atop the North Central Athletic Conference standings at 8-0. For the fourth consecutive time, RCS is second in the weekly MaxPreps 1A Adjusted Rankings, released by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
Freshman Maci Clark finished 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs, while Kelcey Mangum had two doubles, a homer and drove in two runs.
Madison Adams was 4-for-5 with a double, homer and four RBIs and Karsin Lee had triple, double and drove in two.
Zoe Russell reached base in all five plate appearances with a home run and drove in three runs.
Bella King and Karter Hawkins each had two hits and an RBI.
Ashton Evans had a hit and drove in three runs, while Kayleigh Gentry tripled.
Lee picked up the complete-game, five-inning victory after giving up one earned run on three hits and 12 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs faced Franklin Academy Tuesday at home, but results were unavailable at press time. They wrap up their three-game in three-day run Wednesday at Voyager Academy. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
