RHA website earns industry kudos

The Roxboro Housing Authority has a new responsive website – www.RoxboroHA.com – that won the Website of the Year award at the 2019 Carolinas Council for Housing Redevelopment and Code Officials’ annual conference. This was the agency’s first time entering the competition among Public Housing Authorities throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. The CCHRCO annual conference banquet took place in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Aug. 27.

“I made a conscious decision to help the web developer create a design with photos used,” RHA Executive Director Felts Lewis said. “I wanted a true depiction of public housing in Roxboro and Person County.”

The new responsive website allows site visitors to easily navigate the website no matter what device is used for viewing (desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone).

The website is designed to provide business transparency for families, commissioners, business partners, community stakeholders and the general public.

Some of the features/functions of the new site include:

• Calendar of Events: The calendar of events features a home page feed showing three upcoming calendar entries with a link to the main calendar that offers categories of events for easy search

• Share Feature: All pages of the website can be “shared” using the “share widget” at the top of the website. Share options include sharing via email, social media, printing and more.

• Housing Locations Map: Check out affordable housing properties on the interactive embedded Google map

• Additional pages include: Board of Commissioners, Careers, Housing, Maintenance, Residents, Resources and Staff

All residents and the general public are encouraged to visit the site often; it is updated regularly with new information that will benefit all.

Brooks Jeffrey Marketing, Inc., based in Mountain Home, Ark., was awarded the contract to design the site. Lewis served as the copyeditor.
