RCS softball start postseason

The Roxboro Community School softball team opened the playoffs against North Stanly Friday.

Results were unavailable at press time.

The Bulldogs (18-1) entered the postseason on a 10-game winning streak and mowed through the North Central Athletic Conference undefeated en route to a league championship. RCS is the second-seed in the 1A West and earned a first-round bye.

North Stanly had to work its way to Roxboro.

The Comets (14-6) finished third in the deep Yadkin Valley Conference and defeated fellow league member Uwharrie Charter, 1-0 in nine innings Tuesday in the first round.

The RCS-North Stanly winner will face either Lincoln Charter or Murphy Tuesday. The Bulldogs have home field advantage until the regional finals.
