“What are we doing for community day?” This is a common question Roxboro Community School (RCS) students ask their teachers.
RCS is defined by our community involvement. Every nine weeks, RCS students have a community service day. On these days, students reach out to different parts of the community. We do many activities, such as playing bingo at the adult day care center. This grows a connection between the school, the students, and the community.
As a student, I am proud to represent a school that has such a strong connection with the area and people around us. Through these community days, I have the opportunity to explore our town and meet the people in it. Other schools around us don’t have such a strong connection with the people in our area.
Our school name has “community” in it. Our school lights a spark in the darkness because of our connection with the community we are surrounded by.
