The Roxboro Community School boys’ basketball team raced out to an early lead and never looked back in its 81-59 rout of Oxford Prep Friday at home.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 26-12 first quarter lead and kept a comfortable lead throughout.
Jalen Bailey led a balanced RCS offensive attack with 21 points, including nine in the third quarter. Dylan Jones finished with 18 points and combined with Bailey to score all 17 of the Bulldogs’ third-quarter points.
Nasir Stokes and J.R. Paylor finished with 10 points each, while Bryson Pleasant and Karson McKenzie chipped in nine points each.
Colby Rountree and Treshon Woods capped off the scoring with two points each.
The Bulldogs faced Falls Lake Academy Tuesday at home, but results were unavailable at press time. They will be back in action Friday when they host reigning North Central Athletic Conference champion Voyager Academy.
RCS came into the Falls Lake Academy game at 5-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs are currently 50th in this week’s MaxPreps Adjusted Rankings, posted on the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s website.
