Political journalist to speak at local library

Posted

News & Observer journalist Rob Christensen will visit the Person County Public Library June 13 to discuss his 2019 nonfiction book The Rise and Fall of the Branchhead Boys. A reception will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by Christensen’s talk at 7 p.m.

The Rise and Fall of the Branchhead Boys chronicles the history of the Scott family, who led a populist, progressive movement supported by rural North Carolinians. Christensen offers a definitive history of one of the state’s most influential political family and the effects of race and populism on North Carolina politics during the twentieth century.

A book signing will follow Christensen’s talk, with copies of The Rise and Fall of the Branchhead Boys available for purchase.

The Person County Public Library is located at 319 S. Main St., Roxboro. For more information about the library’s services and events for all ages, call 336-597-7881, visit http://library.personcountync.gov, or follow the library on Facebook.
