Pearl Wade Horton, 91, of Roxboro, died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Born in Person County, Mrs. Horton was the daughter of the late Marvin and Lula Gentry Wade and wife of the late Julian C. Horton. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John, Floyd, and Thomas Wade; her sisters Myrtle Chambers and Corrina Coates; and a granddaughter, Beth Horton. Pearl worked many years at the Fo-Acre manufacturing plant and her “retirement” job at Rose’s Department Store, where she made many friends.
Mrs. Horton is survived by three sons, Don and fiance, Jean Spivey of Apex, Greg and wife, Wanda (McKay), Tim and wife, Wanda (Duncan) of Roxboro; one daughter, Vickie Horton Carver of Burlington; seven grandchildren: John Horton, Michele Nowell, Adam Horton, Casey Horton, Kristi Horton, David Gentry and Sarah Pratt; seven great-grandchildren: Cameron and Connor Horton, Nathane Nowell, Hudson and Aria Horton, Julian and Julius Wimbush; one step-grandson, Bryan Arrowood.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, at Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ann Benson and Dr. M. David Chambers. Burial followed in the Wade Family Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2 - 3 p.m. Tuesday at Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church.
