PCC safety director completes executive training


Adam Irby, Director of College Safety and Title IX Coordinator at Piedmont Community College, recently completed the Law Enforcement Executive Program, offered through North Carolina State University’s School of Public and International Affairs department. This training, spread over six months, builds proactive leadership among law enforcement executives that enables them to manage their most critical current and future challenges effectively.

Previously completing his Basic Law Enforcement Training at Durham Technical Community College and earning an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice at Piedmont Community College, Irby joined PCC in 2015.

“Maintaining a safe environment on our campuses is of utmost importance to the PCC leadership team. Ensuring that Adam obtains the proper professional development is vital and we are so proud of him for successfully completing the Law Enforcement Executive Program,” said PCC President Pamela G. Senegal.

LEEP provides participants with tools to help resolve issues that arise on a day-to-day basis and is designed to ensure that the new skills developed throughout the course can be easily implemented in the workplace.

During the training, Irby and his peers engaged in conversation, hands-on training, and group studies covering topics such as collaborative conflict resolution, problem solving, congruency and principle-centered leadership, personnel law, fiscal management, and strategic management process.

“Having the opportunity to participate in LEEP was helpful to my current role at PCC,” said Irby. “We live in a changing environment and the series of six training sessions gave me the chance to gain insight from other law enforcement and safety professionals, as well as expand my leadership skills.”
