Paying it forward

To the editor:

On May 24, while at Wal-Mart the nicest thing happened to me.

While in the checkout line the lady in front of me had finished getting her order checked out in front of me and then she started putting my bags in my cart.

I was tired as I had lots of things. I joked with her and asked if she took tips. She laughed.

When I was writing my check for my things, she leaned over and wrote void on my check. I looked at her and handed me the receipt for my oder. I was so surprised. The clerk laughed and said “I was dying to tell you, but she said no.” I finally told her how nice it was of her. My things totaled $118.34. She laughed and left.

I didn’t think to ask her name, so I hope she will see my thank you in the paper. I’m going pass it on by writing a check for the same amount to Roxboro Baptist Church for our mission to help the hurricane/flood relief efforts.

Thank you so much. I’m still amazed at what she did for me.
