OCS season winding down as points race tightens

Orange County Speedway will be the place to be this Saturday night, Oct. 12, as it presents “The Billy Purnell Memorial.” This will be a 40-lap event for The Choice Automotive Chargers.

To make this race even more important, as this 2019 racing season is winding down only a mere 10 points separate the top four drivers in this division as they race to be the 2019 champion.

Austin Purnell comes into this week as the points leader, just seven points ahead of the 2018 champion Brent Evans Jr. A single point behind Evans is Richard Hayden with Jason Warsing just two points behind Hayden.

Also on the schedule are The Late Model; The Winstead Farms Pure Stock; The Smokey Dave’s BBQ Mod 4 and The Southern Outlaw FWD League.

Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Qualifying set to start at 5:40 p.m.

During the pre-race activities the always popular “Kids Bike Race” will take place.

The green flag is scheduled to wave on the evening’s first event at 7 p.m.

General admission tickets are $10. All military, senior adults (65 and over) and students with ID admission get in for $8. Admission for youth 10 and under will be $1.
