Nellie Ramsey Pentecost

Nellie Ramsey Pentecost, 95, was a native of Person County, daughter of the late H. Thomas and Martha R. Ramsey. She has one sister, Imogene R. Wilson (Leman, deceased). She was raised in the Bethel Hill/ Providence communities. She was a believer in Christ and an active member of Providence Baptist Church until declining health prevented travel. She along with her husband, Cecil A. Pentecost (deceased) farmed while working and retiring after 10 years as a clerk/clothing buyer from Leggett’s in Roxboro. Then she pursued continued education and employment until finally retiring from PCC as a library/media assistant. She and Cecil raised two daughters, Cecile Ann McBroom and Gladys P. Moore (deceased) (Vernon Ray); three sons, Thomas A. (Tommy) Pentecost, Danny L. Pentecost (Ann Smith, deceased) and Derrick M. Buchanan (Joan). She will be remembered by many extended families, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 – 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Providence Baptist Church and after the service in the Fellowship Hall and other times at the home (1065 Providence Road, Roxboro).

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 9, at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 1319 Virgilina Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
