HOLLY HILL, Fla. — Nellie “Nell” Davis Whitt, 83, died Monday March 15, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Woodson and Nancy Holt Davis. She grew up in Roxboro in the Chub Lake area. She worked as a waitress at Alibi Steak House where she was alter promoted to head waitress after her first week. She moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. with her husband Ray Whitt in 1959 and ran Ray & Nell’s Truck Stop, which was later sold. She retired from Ray Whitt’s Used Cars. She loved traveling, playing card games, gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with family especially her six children who survive, Jennie Taylor, Joann Sykes (Joe), David Whitt (Wendy), Buddy Whitt (Jessie) and Rusty Whitt. Also, she had 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; her step-children, Donna Brustad (Eric), Owen Whitt (Mimi), Karen Briggs (Mike), and her sister, Sue Holt White.
She is preceeded in death by her husband Ray Whitt, her sister Wanda Brooks, two brother, Pap Davis and Earl Davis.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Brooks & White Chapel. The service will follow in the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will be in the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends can gather at Golden Corral following the graveside, Dutch treat.
