Mrs. Mary B. Pettiford, 86, of Milton, departed this life Thursday, February 28, 2019 in her residence. She was a native of Person County and a member of United House of Prayer For All People in Reidsville.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lewis Pettiford and her parents, Scott and Addie Mae Barnett.
She is survived by 10 children: Betty P. Pointer of Milton, Elder Squire Roosevelt Pettiford, Jr. (Janet) of Reidsville, Willis Love Pettiford of the home, Elder Janet P. Hines (Carl) of Milton, Lucy H. Gunn (John) of Mebane, Minister Daniel Pettiford (Amanda) of Providence, Judy Pettiford of the home, Jacqueline P. Pinion of Ruffin, Jessica P. Long of Reidsville and David Pettiford, Sr. (April), also of Milton; eight brothers and sisters: Lucy Woods of Philadelphia, Pa., Jennie McClary of Roxboro, Tom Barnett (Diane) of Delaware, Joe Barnett and Scott Barnett (Barbara), both of Newark, N.J., Audrey Miller of Orange, N.J., Nellie Conaway of Tobyhanna, Pa. and Graham Barnett of Roxboro; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several foster children; and a host of other additional relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at United House of Prayer For All People, 310 Lindsey St., Reidsville, with Elder D. Huff officiating and Elder Steve Watts providing the eulogy.
Burial will follow in the Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1111 Oak Grove Mt. Zion Road, Roxboro. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home from 1 - 6 p.m. with the family present during the last hour from 5 - 6 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at 629 Doll Branch Road, Milton.
The body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service.
Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service of comfort for Mrs. Mary B. Pettiford.
