Late-week storms postpone games

North Carolina weather in February is unpredictable: 70 and sunny one day, 35 with a chance of snow the next.

Heavy rain and strong winds brought the threat of severe weather to Person County late last week, forcing RCS and Person High School to close early Thursday and cancel classes Friday. As a result, games were postponed or canceled.

Weather affected the PHS women’s basketball schedule the most, as the Lady Rockets canceled a Thursday non-conference contest against Orange and postponed Friday’s contest against McMichael to 6 p.m. tonight.

The PHS men’s basketball team postponed its Friday matchup with McMichael until 7:30 p.m. tonight. Both Rocket basketball teams now have a busy three-game week: a trip to Rockingham County last night, McMichael tonight, and senior night against Northeast Guilford on Friday.

The RCS men’s and women’s basketball teams postponed last Friday’s contests against Henderson Collegiate until this Friday, making the matchups against the Pride the regular season finales. The Bulldogs host three games this week: Voyager last night, tomorrow’s senior night against Triangle Math and Science Academy, and HC Friday.
