BURLINGTON — Kelly Pink Whitfield Jr., 89, of Burlington, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at Peak Resources in Alamance County. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Kelly Pink Whitfield Sr. and Nanny Mae Gentry Whitfield. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Kelly Whitfield Sr. and brother, Ralph Whitfield.
Mr. Whitfield served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Mr. Whitfield retired from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby D. Whitfield of Burlington; three children: Donald Jeffrey Whitfield of Rockwell, Connie W. King (John) of Concord and Douglas Craig Whitfield (Denise) of Burlington; three siblings: Clara Mae W. Sales, Otis Whitfield (Janice) and Marie W. Melton (Jerry); 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.7, 2020 at the Brooks and White Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 at Wheeler’s Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Harrison.
