Mrs. Janie Burnette Dillahay Street, born April 28, 1946 to the late John William and Pearl Fergus Dillahay, departed this life Sunday, May 5, 2019 after a brief illness. She was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church and was educated in the Person County School System.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Street; two brothers, John “Bubba” Dillehay and Royal Rodney Dillehay; and three sisters: Shirley Peoples Washington, Bobbie Jo “Barbara” Tuck and Delois Dillehay-Coutourier.

She is survived by two brothers: James William Dillahay (Janice) of Roxboro, and Walter Dillehay of Timberlake; one sister, Ruth Ann Dillehay of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; a niece who was more like her daughter, Gloria Ann Smith (Walter) of Hinesville, Ga.; brother-in-law, Matt Tuck of Semora; sister-in-law, Velma Rogers Dillehay of Roxboro; nine nieces: Joyce Peoples-Clark of Brooklyn, N.Y., Annette Dixon of Darlington, S.C., Teresa Peoples of Brooklyn, N.Y., Michelle Tuck Thomas (Frederick) of Roxboro, Keisha Tuck of Semora, Felicia Winstead of Richmond, Va., Janet Guthrie of Mt. Vernon, N.Y, Jennifer Dillehay and Tonya Dillehay, both of New York; six nephews: Willis Peoples of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., David Vigo of Queens, N.Y., Michael Washington of Elmira, N.Y., Bobby Washington of Stone Mountain, Ga., Curtis Dillehay of Missouri, Wayne Dillehay (Sabrina) of East Stroudsbury, Pa.; and a host of other additional relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, 780 Barnette-Tingen Road, Roxboro, with the Rev. Ronald Booker Sr., pastor, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 2 - 7 p.m. with the family present during the last hour from 6 - 7 p.m.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Walter Dillehay, 2355 Dick Holeman Road, Timberlake.

Her body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service.
