Hugh Ray Stewart, 78, of 1030 John Allen Road, Roxboro, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 2, 2019 at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Stewart was born December 30, 1940 in Person County, NC, son of the late John Ray and Geneva Cothran Stewart. He was retired from Bromma and was formerly in the North Carolina National Guard.
Mr. Stewart loved woodworking, working in his garden, and the Farmer’s Market.
Surviving are two sons, Jason Stewart and wife, Christy, David Stewart and wife, Kelley, one sister, Martha Gray and husband, Larry, four grandchildren, Dawson Stewart, John Stewart, Justine Stewart and Andrew Stewart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart is preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, James, Donald and Ronald Stewart, and one sister, Ann Buchanan.
A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Norma Roberts officiating. The family received friends and guests Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, from 1-2 p.m. at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home, 1030 John Allen Road, Roxboro.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 138, 218 Chub Lake Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
