The Person County Health Department announced the county's second COVID-related death alongside 29 new cases Wednesday it its weeks count update.
The death follows the county's first death just over two months ago on April 28.
The new cases push the total case count to 187, of which 39 are active – 38 people are being monitored at home and one person is currently hospitalized.
Thirteen new individuals have been released from home isolation.
There have been 5,240 tests completed on Personians since March 1, of which 3.56 percent have returned positive, according to the health department.
The most recent demographics of the county's cases from the Person County Health Department are as follows:

• Other: 31
• Unknown: 8
• 0-17: 15
• 18-24: 20
• 25-49: 78
• 50-64: 51
• 65+: 23
Governor limits alcohol sales
In a Tuesday press briefing, Gov. Roy Cooper announced an Executive Order that will prevent restaurants, breweries, wineries and distilleries from selling alcohol after 11 p.m.
The order will not apply to grocery stores, convenience stores or other entities that sell alcohol for consumption off premises.
