The Person County Cattlemen’s Association will hold their steak supper fundraiser on Friday, April 6, from 5-7 p.m. at the Person County Office Building. The cost is $15 per plate which will include steak, baked potato, salad and dessert and will be available eat-in or takeout.
The proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support the Person County Cattlemen’s Association Endowment for the Rocky Carver Memorial Scholarship and local youth participating in 4-H livestock activities.
Tickets are available from Cattlemen’s Association members or at the Extension Office.
SUPPORT OUR YOUTH
Come support several Person County youth as they participate in the 73rd Annual Central Piedmont Junior Livestock Show and Sale. The event will take place April 18-19 at the Central Carolina Holstein Barn in Orange Grove south of Hillsborough. Animals will be exhibited by the youth beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and last well into the evening. The show will continue around 10 a.m. Thursday. The culmination of this event is the Market Animal Sale on Thursday evening. There is also a barbecue supper on Thursday night, starting at 5 p.m., cooked by the Orange High FFA Alumni. There is no charge for the meal but donations are welcome.
The Person County Cattlemen’s Association in conjunction with Person County Cooperative Extension will conduct their next educational program at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, at the Person County Office Building Auditorium.
Mark Harrison with Stihl will present information on chainsaw safety. A hands-on demo is an option, but it is necessary to know if this is wanted by the members ahead of time. If you’d like the opportunity to try using a chain saw, inform the association of that when you RSVP. Most everyone with a cattle farm has to use a chainsaw from time to time and knowing how to use one safely is extremely important.
We will also be making final plans for the steak supper on April 6, so everyone needs to come pick up tickets to sell.
Call our office at 336- 599-1195 by March 16th to let us know if you will be attending. This will help us better plan for the meal.
