Ermand Ross Painter, 96, formerly of Timberlake, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Willie Franklin Painter and Nellie Morton Painter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Oakley Painter; one son, Randy Painter; two brothers: “Butch” Painter and Jack Painter. Mr. Painter was a WWII Army Veteran and during his service drove an ambulance for the 83rd General Hospital.
Mr. Painter worked hard all of his life and was a brick mason for many years. He was the best neighbor anyone could have. Ermand loved his family and church. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Later in life he helped maintain the church and cemetery. He truly enjoyed making people happy and caring a tune. When Mr. Painter entered the nursing home he never gave up. He enjoyed entertaining the residents with his beautiful singing voice. So if you are feeling depressed hum. whistle, or sing a tune to make the world a better place. My dad would approve and sing with you!
Surviving are his two daughters: Sheree Dunn (Noah Thomas “Skippy”) and Cynthia “Cindy” Whitfield (Bruce), both of Rougemont; daughter-in-law, Ida Frazier; five grandchildren: Stephen Dunn (Mary), Nikki Dunn, Kyle Brooks Painter, Stephanie Kinton (David) and Michael Whitfield (Katy); two great-grandchildren: Chloe and Caden.
Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 at the Brooks and White Chapel with the Elder David Minter officiating. Burial will follow in the Surl Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (11 AM- 12 PM) and other times at the home of Cindy and Bruce Whitfield (4707 Bahama Road, Rougemont, N.C. 27572).
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Canterbury House and Amedisys Hospice.
