LEASBURG – Dorothy Guthrie Williamson, 97, of 2101 NC Hwy 119 N., Leasburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Burlington, after being in declining health for the last year.

Mrs. Williamson was born Sept. 7, 1921 in Caswell County, daughter of the late James Harvey Guthrie, Sr. and Ruth Mise Guthrie. She spent all of her life in the Caswell County area where she graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School Class of 1939. She retired from Burlington Industries at the Williamsburg plant as a swatch checker in the weave room after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Leasburg Rurtian Club.

Mrs. Williamson was a very active member of Griers Presbyterian Church as long as her health permitted. She had a strong faith that never wavered. She loved her family, the Lord and her church. She was caring, loving to all, and touched many lives with her kindness. She was the “best” mother anyone could ever have.

On March 7, 1942, she married Fletcher Allen Williamson, Sr. who died on July 18, 1987.

Survivors include, daughters Elizabeth Lib Williamson of Leasburg, and Diane W. Neese and her husband Lee of Burlington; sons, George Williamson of Leasburg, and Allen “Chicken Man” Williamson, Jr. of Burlington; sister, Mabel G. Foster of Lynchburg, Va.; son-in-law, Tommy Coley of Yanceyville; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was predeceased by daughter, Jewell W. Coley; and siblings, Elwood Guthrie, Earl Guthrie, Malcohm Guthrie and Velma Jean Richmond.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williamson will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1, at Griers Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ricky Foster officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-3 p.m. at the church and at other times they will be at the residence, 2101 NC Hwy 119 N, Leasburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Griers Presbyterian Church c/o of Curtis Ann Hamlett 2700 NC Hwy 119 N. Leasburg, NC 27291
