DURHAM -— Cynthia Pearl Selvy Nicholson, 71, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 in Durham.
Born on October 27, 1946, to Roy and Frances “Eula” Selvy, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, she was the oldest of four daughters raised on the family farm.
On Dec. 20, 1969, Cynthia married Everett Nicholson of Deer Creek, Oklahoma. On Feb. 24, 1972 they became parents to Rachelle Raye Nicholson.
Cynthia flourished being a farmer’s wife and teacher. Often her former students became a part of her extended family. She would be the first to remind the younger generation about the “good old days” and would share her “farm girl” stories. She was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church her entire life.
She is survived by her husband, Everett Nicholson, daughter Rachelle Nicholson McCranie and husband Chris McCranie of St. Augustine, Florida. Two granddaughters, Georgia Grace McCranie, and Jenna Catherine McCranie. Three sisters, Roylyn Selvy of Denison, Texas, Nancy Selvy Marlman of Mancos, Colorado, and Harriet Selvy Weber of Ada, Oklahoma. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A Memorial service will be held in Blackwell, Oklahoma at a later date.
