The number of COVID-19 cases in Person County continues to escalate.
The Person County Health Department reported six new cases on Monday, just three days after reporting another six cases.
Today’s report takes the county’s total to 85 cases reported so far in Person County.
Friday’s announcement also marked the sixth straight day of new cases, a high since the pandemic first arrived in the county March 24.
From Sunday, June 7 to Friday, 22 new cases were identified in Person County.
That new high broke previous records of 14 set May 24-30 and 19 set June 4-10.
Two individuals were released from home isolation Friday five more were released on Monday, taking that total to 61 – 72 percent of the county’s cases.
Another individual was also hospitalized Friday, and a third was hospitalized Monday.
There has been one COVID-related death.
