County passes 10,000 tests, sees slight rise in percent positive

In its weekly COVID-19 update, the Person County Health Department reported that more than 10,000 tests have been administered on county residents since March and a slight rise in tests returning positive.

With 32 new lab-confirmed positive cases in the past week, Person County now has 428 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Twenty two of this week's new cases were exhibiting symptoms. The report says that 239, or 55 percent, of the county's cases showed symptoms of the disease.

There are 51 people being monitored at home.

Seventeen people were released from isolation this week taking that total to 365 since March.

There are six people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and there have been six COVID-related deaths.

With 649 new tests administered to county residents at facilities both inside and outside of the county in the past week, the total has been pushed to 10,091.

There was also a slight rise of the percent positive to 4.24 percent.
