County passes 100 total cases, 14 active

Person County has passed 100 total cases of COVID-19, the Person County Health Department announced Friday.

The Health Department announced seven new cases Friday to take the county past the century mark with 103 total cases since March 24.

Of those, 14 are currently active – 13 are being monitored at home and there is one hospitalized.

There has been one COVID-related death.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released county-level demographic data earlier this week.

That data only shows 100 of the county’s cases.

The demographic data of the county’s cases is as follows:

Race:

• Black or African American - 29 percent

• White - 51 percent

• Other - 21 percent

Age:

• 0-17 - 6 percent

• 18-24 - 11 percent

• 25-49 - 41 percent

• 50-64 - 31 percent

• 65-74 - 7 percent

• 75+ - 4 percent

Ethnicity:

• Hispanic - 28 percent

• Non-Hispanic - 72 percent

Gender:

• Male - 47 percent

• Female - 53 percent

Missing demographic data:

• Race - 12

• Ethnicity - 25

• Gender - 1

The available data for the county’s lone death shows that it was a white male, aged 50-64.
