The Board of County Commissioners held informal interviews and appointed members to the Library Board, Piedmont Community College Board of Trustees and Board of Health Monday night.
All three current members of the boards were reappointed to their respective boards.
Anne Gibson was reappointed to the Library Board. In her interview, Gibson said she would like to see the library receive a Bookmobile and suggested expanded hours, an express checkout locker system and a new library branch to serve southern Person County.
James Woody was reappointed to the Piedmont Community College Board of Trustees. In his interview, Woody said he is glad to be on the board that elected current PCC President Pamela Senegal. Asked how he plans on combating low enrollment, Woody said that the current good economy doesn’t lend itself to high enrollment. As more people are making more money and are satisfied in their job, community colleges will see dips in enrollment, especially from those who would come to retrain for a new job.
Dr. Stephen Saunders was reappointed to the board of health. In his interview, Saunders noted that he joined the medical profession and the board of health to help provide care for those who cannot care for themselves. He said he is excited to continue this serve another term on the board.
