Community family fun day provides free health services

Person Family Medical Center, Inc. hosted a Community Family Fun Day that aimed to show the variety of resources offered to Person County residents on Saturday.

The health awareness event brought together people of all ages to have fun with a purpose at Huck Sansbury Recreation Complex.

Nearly 70 community organizations provided free resources and fun experiences like Duke Life Flight who provided children like Abbey Coakley with her first helicopter tour.

“It is my first time seeing a helicopter up close because I usually see a helicopter in the sky,” said Coakley.

The adults got in on the fun too but also took the chance to use the free health services provided.

“I got my blood pressure checked, I went to find out about Life Flight and the services they offered and how they get in the air real quick... and just walking around enjoying myself,” said Durham resident Wendy Butler who was invited by her mother.

Other fun and entertaining activities like face painting, music, food, a bouncy house and a special performance by Ballet Folklorico also took place.

Community organizations involved included Managed Medicaid Enrollment Broker, Safe Haven of Person County, United Home Care, Paparazzi Jewelry, Person County EMS, Woodsdale Fire Department, Person Area Transportation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Partnership for Children, Piedmont Community College, Person County Senior Center, North Carolina Extension/Healthy Personians, American Heart Association, Roxboro Police Department, Person County Sheriff’s Office, ACI Physical Therapy, El Centro Hispano and Terry’s Kids.

“We are grateful for what they did because that is more resources we were able to share with our community,” said Person Family Medical Center Inc. Outreach/Marketing Coordinator Jennifer Daye.
