Springtime can bring severe weather

As springtime in North Carolina brings warmer weather, severe weather becomes more likely. It is important to be prepared for the severe weather season. It is important to know your risks and to keep updated on local weather forecasts and severe weather predictions. The National Weather Service, local media, and numerous mobile apps all provide good sources of weather information.

It is important to understand the differences between severe weather watches and warnings. A watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather. Whenever a watch

is issued, you should pay close attention to the weather and monitor local media for possible warnings or other information. Be prepared to take immediate action to protect yourself and your family if severe weather approaches.

A warning means that severe weather is imminent and you need to take immediate action to protect yourself and your family. Take shelter immediately and continuously monitor weather.
