The Person County Beekeepers Association will be teaching an Introduction to Beekeeping course beginning Jan. 9, 2020. The class will be held each Thursday evening at 7 p.m. for 10 weeks in the auditorium at the Person County Office Building, 304 S. Morgan St. There will also be two hands-on field day events.
At the conclusion of the course, participants will have the option to take the written portion of the Certified Beekeeper exam sponsored by the North Carolina State Beekeepers Associations. The course will cover all aspects of the art and science of beekeeping and will be taught by experienced beekeepers from our area.
“It is very important that new beekeepers learn from local experts as beekeeping conventions and practices vary by geographic region” said Bob Brauer, president of PCBA. The fee for the course is $75 for individuals and $125 for couples. Students can register online at https://bit.ly/2J27kbJ, or by mail by sending checks (payable to PCBA) to P.O. Box 222, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541. Students are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited and the class does fill up.
