Barbara Joan Johnson Bowes, 68, of Roxboro, died Saturday, May 16, 2020. Born in Washington County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Otis Henry Johnson and Mildred Akers Johnson, who survives. She is preceded in death by her brother, Steven Johnson.
Mrs. Bowes was a member of Theresa Baptist Church where she worked as the church secretary for 10 years and sang in the adult choir. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, James Michael Bowes of the home; two children, Lee Caudell (Christine) of Hartsville, SC and Jamey Caudell of the home; one stepson, Doug Bowes (Christie) of Timberlake; three brothers; Johnny Johnson (Shelby) of Meadowview, Va., Randall Johnson (Lisa) of Sims and Terry Johnson of Norfolk, Va.; two grandchildren, Courtney Caudell and Kaylee Caudell; three step-grandchildren, Delanei Clayton, Camryn Bowes and Lindsey Fagala; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Helen Long Bowes, 4131 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, at Theresa Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Francis and the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Due to the Executive Order regarding the COVID-19, the attendance will be limited to 50 people.
