A public art project that’s been in the works for more than a year is finally starting to take shape.
City employees Phillip Fish and Mike Clayton were in the alley next to Business as Unusual on Main Street this afternoon hanging five of the works of art by Kate Lagaly.
It’s the first installment of what will eventually be eight Person County scenes. Roxboro Uptown Development Manager Lynda Clayton said building owner Wimp Slaughter was happy to let the city use the side of his building for the display.
Clayton said the remaining pieces of the display are expected to be complete and installed by August.
The project is a joint venture between the Person County Arts Council, Person County Tourism Development Authority, the City of Roxboro, the Uptown Roxboro Group and Person County Arts, Parks and Recreation Department.
