Anthony Dean “Tony” McSherry, 67, of 151 Cunningham Road, Semora, died Friday, November 8, 2019. Born in Person County, Mr. McSherry was the son of the late George Malcolm “Sam” and Dorothy Shelton McSherry. Mr. McSherry graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School and joined the Va. Army National Guard. He worked at Collins & Aikman and later went on to the Caswell County Sheriff’s Department. After 23 years as a Lieutenant, he retired as the jail administrator. Mr. McSherry was an avid NASCAR fan. He is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda McSherry Brandon.
Mr. McSherry is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Jeffress McSherry; his brother, George Malcolm “Mac” McSherry, Jr. and wife Janice, of Graham; his sister, Dorothy McSherry Pleasant and husband WD, of Purley; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his beloved special blind cat Popeye.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Lebanon Christian Church by Mr. Larry Hunt Jeffress, brother-in-law. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday at Lebanon Christian Church prior to the service and at other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Pleasant, Glen Boswell, Kelly Fox, David McSherry, Buzz Webster, Jackson McSherry, and Todd Spell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Caswell County Sheriff’s Department.
