Mrs. Annie Scott Stewart, 79, departed this life Thursday, February 6, 2020 in The Canterbury House in Roxboro. She was a native of Person County and a member of Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church in Semora.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stewart; her parents, John Thomas and Pearl Scott; five sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by seven children: Gloria Jones of Roxboro, Sandra Winstead (Wayne) of Semora, Shelia Stewart, Christine Stewart, Joseph Stewart (Michelle) and Annie Thorpe, all of Roxboro and Sharon Stewart of Timberlake; one sister, Lucille Lindsey of Rochelle, NY; 19 grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one aunt, Ella Bumphus and one uncle, John Elbert Bumphus, both of Roxboro; a close friend, Mary Johnson, also of Roxboro; and a host of other additional relatives, friends and acquaintances.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church, 1780 Zion Level Church Road, Semora, with the Rev. Walter Wayne Lee, Pastor, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 - 6 p.m., Monday at the funeral home, with the family present during the last hour from 5 - 6 p.m.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 381 Dunnaway Road in Semora.
Her body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service.
