After 75 years, local couple still enjoying their wedded bliss

Rainey and Pauline Hicks were surprised with a special celebration for their 75th wedding anniversary at the Friendsgiving event for residents and their families at Cambridge Hills Nov. 21.

The Hicks’ family was in attendance along with other residents and friends.

“Rainey and Pauline are such a sweet couple with so much love for each other. It truly shows in their daily lives at Cambridge Hills when you see them. They help each other with their daily activities and call each other such sweet names,” said Cambridge Hills admissions director Sandra Carden.

According to Rainey Hicks, he and Pauline went to the Justice of the Peace to get married. The license cost him $5. He said it was the best $5 he ever spent.

Nov. 25, 1943 and lived most of their adult life in Durham.
