2 more COVID-19 deaths this week, other metrics lower

Two additional deaths highlight the Person County Health Department's weekly COVID-19 update released Wednesday.

Nineteen new cases mark the lowest number of cases in a week since the health department's Aug. 5 update.

The new cases take the county's total to 447 individuals testing positive for COVID-19.

Of this week's new cases, 13 people were exhibiting symptoms.

There are currently 42 active cases in the county – also a low since the Aug. 5 update.

There are 38 people being monitored at home and four hospitalized.

The additional deaths push the county's total to eight.

With 543 new tests administered to county residents at testing locations both inside and outside of the county in the past week, the total is now 10,634.

Also falling in the past week was the rate of tests returning positive which fell to the rate it had two weeks ago at 4.2 percent.

• 18-24: 59 (+2)

• 25-49: 167 (+5)

• 50-64: 104 (+6)

• 65+: 74 (+6)
